Keep Your Tires in Excellent Shape with These Tips

600 × 396

Your Hyundai model's tires are among its most vital features, but they're also among the easiest to neglect. Many North Carolina drivers don't think too much about their tires, but giving those rings of rubber a little extra attention could save you a lot of trouble (and cash!) in the long run. So, what can you do to get the most out of your tires and how can you tell when it's time to put your current set out to pasture? Here are a few tips to help you care for your tires and your vehicle.

Regular Maintenance is Key

Staying on top of your vehicle's maintenance schedule is the best way to ward off problems or catch them before they get worse. This helps your car perform better overall, but there are a few bits of maintenance that directly affect your tires and help them last longer:

Tire Pressure: It's important to keep a close eye on tire pressure, especially during winter months when cold weather causes levels to drop. Tires with too much or too little air run the risk of wearing down prematurely and negatively impacting your fuel economy. Check tire pressure at least once a month.

Wheel Alignment: Driving over potholes, curbs, and bumpy terrain can throw your vehicle's wheels out of alignment which, in turn, can cause excessive wear and tear on your tires among other issues. Regular wheel alignments can help you avoid this issue.

Tire Rotation: Your tires don't wear down evenly on their own. In fact, your front tires tend to wear faster due to the extra weight from the engine, but getting a tire rotation (usually whenever you get an oil change) can help your tires wear evenly.

If you notice tire damage or your tires lack adequate tread, you should invest in a new set so your vehicle can gain maximum traction and handle the way you expect it to. Contact our Hyundai service center with any questions!
