Rolling Through Rock Hill: Free Fun

York County here we come! We’re heading south from Gastonia today to find some of the best places in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Every week we have been riding around, and this week we’re in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe with 22/29 MPG’s, 5-person seating, and a whole lot of style. Being your local Hyundai dealer here at Hyundai of Gastonia, we know everyone loves a good deal, but even better- everyone loves FREE. So, we’re out to find the best places where we can have a fun and exciting weekend, without breaking the bank. Follow us on our journey through Rock Hill for another great weekend in the Carolina’s with the Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Gastonia family!

Glencairn Gardens

Sights, sounds, nature. Time to get out of the office or the house the right way and spend a little time in the sun. At Glencairn Gardens you’ll be delighted by the preservation of the natural beauty of Rock Hill intertwined with gorgeous modern fountains, and an atmosphere that’s flat-out peaceful. It’s the perfect place to take the family to for a picnic or even alone with a book and time to spare. As with every place on this list, entry is free and the walking paths are gorgeous, and you’ll even see a few turtles popping their heads out of the ponds. With 6 acres of land mixed with hills, water fountains, bridges, a planetarium and even a veteran’s memorial, Glencairn Gardens is a great place to check out in Rock Hill when you want to step out of the city without actually leaving the city. Located right off Crest Street, view more info here.

Fountain Park

Food Truck Fridays, free Yoga, and a farmer’s market? Yes, please. Be sure to check in for event info here, but the relatively brand-new Fountain Park is always a good time.  Nestled in the center of Rock Hill’s Old Town, this little, but well-kept and popular park is a beautiful little place to stop by for a midday pitstop while traveling around Rock Hill, or even to check out a concert or show. Here you’ll also find a super impressive water fountain that features an interactive water jet display that looks absolutely captivating at night. The surrounding area has a few really cool establishments and the architecture alone is an awesome sight to behold. Located on East Main Street, check out more information about Fountain Park here.

Rock Hill Fire Station Museum

The Rock Hill Fire Department Museum is a great place to stop by with the kids. Built by Rock Hill’s own firefighters, this free learning destination houses some really cool pieces of history and also teaches current fire prevention and safety education in a hands-on setting that will truly resonate with the young ones and is even insightful for the adults. Overall, this is a really cool local project that features everything from a classic fire truck, uniforms, and more! Take in a bit of history with the family, learn a few safety tips, and create lasting memories at the Rock Hill Fire Station Museum!
